Final Thoughts

For this blog, I thought I would just look back at the 5 weeks of summer session. When I first started summer session I thought it would be a nice change from the normal school year; I'd get my classes done in a shorter time, I'd have my apartment to myself, and I had also heard that summer down in athens is really fun. However, even though I got my classes done in a shorter amount of time, they were very fast moving and kind of stressful. Also, about 2 weeks into the summer session I became bored and lonely having no roommates. And I havent really gone out to the bars or done anything super fun. But, overall I'm glad I had this experience, because not onlu did I get two more classes out of the way, but I also realized that summer session is not for me. ha ha.
As for this english class, I really enjoyed everyone in it. I found the material interesting and relatable to everyday life (especially at our age). I do however, feel like the work load was outrageous, but I guess thats to be expected when taking an english class in just 5 short weeks. I thought the essay and paper assignments were creative and the blog gave us a chance to speak or minds and share it with everyone.
Anyways, although i enjoyed the subject of this class and all of you that were in it, I'm glad to be finishing up and I'm ready to have a break!

  1. I completely agree with you on this Lauren! I too thought that it would be fun to take a few classes, relax, hang out with friends, and just enjoy the atmosphere of Athens during the summer. I too quickly become bored after the first couple weeks and I quickly realized that most of my friends were not in Athens for the summer. So, in a defense/coping mechanism, I threw myself into my work. This seemed to work which is why I didn't find the five week class to stressful. I do agree we had a lot of work and there were moments when I felt the pressure, but I personally thrive when I'm under pressure and I seem to get more things accomplished.
I too really enjoyed the subject of the course and I thought the blogs were a fun way to hear everyone's opinions/thoughts.
-Have a great rest of the summer!

  2. I agree with Abby, summer really allows you to through yourself into your work. It's a good mindset to get in, and sets you up nicely to attack the fall. Plus, after 16 hours in the summer, the rest of the school year will feel like cake.

As far as things to do, summer definitely tops the other seasons. Brew week, lake Hope, Old Man's Cave, the out doors in general, the super cheap prices for food and beer, and the absence of all the noise. Of course I suppose it's all in what your looking for. Anyways, enjoy the rest of your summer, it was nice having you in class.
